Martin Christmas – 1 poem

Natural Selection

Early morning suburban trek.

Two magpies standing still.

I summon up the gods.

Artemis, Actaeon and Pan.

The Druid within channels.

‘Yaa-er, Yaa-er’ in fluent magpie.

They look at each other.

‘Dick-head, dick-head’ is all I hear.

They fly off  impressively.
