Politicians
Tight-lipped they dance
in windowless rooms
slipped under corpulent arms
drawstring bags of ambition
tight with Gordian knots
Militant men –
they dodge questions
follow correct lines
curdled with blunted beliefs
Loopholed at night
holding noisy parties
gargling self-importance
gagged with deceit –
from open mouths
hollow words drip and spit
Sitting on leather chairs
unable to untangle debate
surrounded by their entourage
careened in dogged dreams
with pudgy fingers
they cut into other things.
