Bindweed News: our site has upgraded!

Good news, readers!

After 6 years of running Bindweed as a free WordPress site, we’ve finally upgraded our website to our own domain as follows:

Why did we upgrade the site?

We’ve always wanted to have our own website domain, but as a not-for-profit labour of love magazine, we didn’t have the funds. However, our latest anthology, Midsummer Madness 2022 has sold enough copies that we have been able to pay for Bindweed’s new domain.

What other changes to Bindweed are there?

Money from our back issues will also fund the free prizes we are now offering to our contributors. These are biannual ‘Editor’s pick’prizes for best fiction and best poetry in each of our Midsummer Madness and Winter Wonderland anthologies.

Hopefully with the new look of our website, all of the poetry and fiction in our archives will look better too without any advertisements appearing at the bottom of each piece. We hope it makes for a better reading experience for all of our readers and writers at Bindweed.

Welcome to Bindweed Online Issue 12

Happy New Year!

Bindweed Online 2022 is now launched! New writing will be published every few days throughout the first third of the year (January to April 2022) appearing on the Bindweed Magazine homepage and archived on the Issue 12 page.

We have more exciting news for later on in this year. Bindweed will change format from online issues, starting with the launch of our biannual anthology on 21st June 2022. Submissions are open for Bindweed: Midsummer Madness 2022, which will be a Kindle ebook available for purchase or free to download on Kindle Unlimited.

Please read our full submission guidelines for any writers and poets wishing to submit work. We read all year round and accept all genres and themes.

May 2022 bring health and happiness for us all!

Update on submission response time

Hi Bindweeders,

As you know, 2020 has been a very strange and troubling year. After 5 months of working from home during lockdown, Joseph and I have been back to full-time work, in addition to running Bindweed and working on our own writing.

In order to keep Bindweed running as smoothly as we can (our zine receives no funding to employ a team; it’s purely the effort of a couple of writers giving back to the literary community!) we’d like to ask that you query us after 12 weeks/ 3 months to give us time to read through all your submissions.

Thanks for bearing with us and hope you are all staying safe and well!

Leilanie and Joseph
